Le voyage dans la lune (1902)

(A Trip to the moon)

We can’t talk about Méliès without thinking on this film, as he sometimes is also called the father of science fiction movies.

The music it’s from Belliot, made in 2011.

Cindirella (1899)

By George Méliès, the french director who history sometimes call him the one who discovered stop-motion.

Once upon a time Méliès was filming in the street when his camera got stuck for a few seconds and then continued filming. When the film came out of the lab and he checked on it, what he found was how a car magically converted into an omnibus.

And this is how the effect was discovered by him, he used this trick in his movies to create the effect of substitution, as he was called the Cinemagician for his magic movies and innovating effects as painting the film so it looked like it has colors on it.

I’ll be posting a few more movies of him.

Ray Harryhausen Creature list

For all interested in stop-motion or in old movies, Ray Harryhausen was the mastermind in creating diferents creatures in those years where stop-motion was the best way to create special effects of living creatures that didn’t exist… now you can make them with CG (computer graphics), but this movies have their magic, the way the creatures move, and react with the real people it’s amazing! even the style of the dolls, just beautiful!
